Coos Bay is the largest city on the Oregon coast and is the area’s largest commercial and cultural hub with the largest deep-draft coastal harbor between San Francisco Bay and Puget Sound. The bay area is comprised of Coos Bay, North Bend, and Charleston, with a combined population of 30,000 people. The combination of the three communities offers an intriguing selection of excellent restaurants, gourmet coffeehouses, bookstores, antique shops, gift shops, two movie theaters, and the largest indoor mall on the coast. Coos Bay is also home to a huge, newly renovated Wal-Mart, as well as Bi-Mart, K-Mart, and Fred Meyer.
   Florence is a quaint little community nestled right on the Oregon dunes. Historical old town Florence offers a variety of gift shops, restaurants, antique stores, and art galleries. Florence has an impressive schedule of performing arts. The Florence Convention and Performing Arts Center features musical concerts ranging from jazz to classical as well as Broadway plays, ballet, and more. The river, ocean, and nearby lakes provide numerous sites for fishing, swimming, paddling, and sailing. Florence is becoming one of the popular places for tourists to visit on the coast.
